i think i should start wearing a sign...

that reads "if i don't know you, please don't touch the belly."

i went to the grocery store today and while i was waiting for my cold cuts (don't judge me... the doctor oked me on them) some random lady came up to me without warning and GRABBED my belly. she shooked it around and said "is it moving?" i think my face said it all when she immediately backed off and appologized. i just don't get it... who said that it was ok for strangers to do this? does every one think that pregnant bellies are public territory?.. because they are not!

don't get me wrong, i love it when people touch the belly... BUT people i know! i love the attention i get (i know i sound selfish) but its the only time in my life that my body and my belly will be praised. fat girls (i am one :)..) do not get praised for the chubby bellies. people do not look at a chubby belly and smile, but when youre pregnant people just smile at you all the time (or they look at you with pity.. i have gotten a few of these looks). i would just prefer the no touching. you can smile at me all you want and talk to me and ask me questions... just please, if i don't know you, don't touch the belly. ok. thank you!

ps. i am being featured today! i am so honored to have been randomly selected and i cannot wait to meet all the new bloggers that are going to be passing by.. HELLO BLOGGERS! welcome to my blog :) i hope you enjoy the read.

as for my lovely followers, please feel free to check out the blog hop.

  1. lol, babe, you make me laugh. I would be completely caught off guard and probably would have the same reaction, but who comes up and touches your belly when they don't know you? My friend who has a baby had that happen to her kid all the time and she HATED it because they would be complete strangers. And I can tel you that you're baby is going to be adorable, so you are forewarned.

And yay!! Congrats on being featured! That is so exciting! What a great way to start off the new year (besides the belly touching thing!!) :)

  2. Congrats on being featured. I came over to check out your blog after I saw it on Sippy Cups and Cloth Bums. I remember the days of the stranger-belly-touches. Fortunately I didn't have too many though. Mostly just looks of pity, especially when I was out in public with my 17-month old and 8 months pregnant with my second baby :) Random people asked me if I had done that on purpose, and one guy said, "Um, you do know how that happens, right?" ?!?!? It is amazing the things people think suddenly become socially acceptable to say or do to you when you're pregnant! Haha. I'll have to read a bit to see when you're due. Good luck! - Amy

  4. I didn't like that either, but it was better than people asking "Are you sure you aren't having twins?" I can't help it that my babies were huge. I am a new follower from the blog hop. Stop by if you have a chance.

  11. I loved the people I KNOW touching my belly when I was pregnant but all the others! AGGG!! I had a friend at work that would get down on her knees and would talk to Alie when she was in my tummy. It was awkward. I'd look down and think "dude your talk to my crotch!" You have to find a spencers or see if they have it online. I bought myself a shirt from there that said "DON'T TOUCH THE BELLY"

I joined the hop and I am a new follower!

  12. I hated it when I had people touch my belly! I ended up getting a tee shirt that said "look, don't touch!" I wore it all the time! The worst was one day I was in line at walmart and I looked down and noticed a hand on my belly. Yes, the lady in line behind me had her arm wrapped around me touching my belly.... urgh!

  14. People do that with tattoos too. That's how I can relate since I'm not preggers yet. They just assume that you'll tell them exactly why you got the tattoo, it's meaning, all the while fondling you and twisting around your body parts!

    Yuck!
